Come to Denny Park and bring your dog!

Anyone else notice the increasing population of dogs downtown (yay!) and the diminishing green for walking them? We certainly have.

Here's a cool idea: how about a dog park in Denny Park? Join us this Sunday, September 16, 10:00am - 4:00pm, at the first annual Denny Park neighborhood party and visit the Urban Dog Presence information table.

We will have dog treat give-aways (compliments of Scraps), information about urban dog resources, and most importantly, we will compile an email list of people interested in having a dog park in Denny Park.

Denny Park is currently undergoing a re-envisioning, and the steering committee for this effort is very sympathetic to urban dogs.
  • Come to the park this Sunday and bring your dogs!

  • Stop by our table to share some urban dog presence and sign up on our email list.

  • By doing so you will provide public support for a new urban dog park.

You are also very welcome to email your address to us and/or add comments of support to this blog post.

See you Sunday!

Enuff already with the Dog Parks. I think we need green space, not fenced-in, poopy, beauty bark. We've lost the mini-park in belltown, upper Golden Gardens, and more. There are so few green parks left that I firmly believe that we don't need to convert any more green, urban park-areas to brown wastelands.

dear anonymous- thanks for your comment. i think the real issue is that the dog population is here and it's growing. seems to me that containing the poopy in a maintained, fenced-in portion of the park is better than having it all over the park.

with respect to the denny park charter, the goal is to represent as much of the evolving community as possible. currently, the homeless population (who are part of the community) are the primary users of the park. soon we'll have a kids area, new lighting, and a number of other improvements. people with dogs are clearly a growing segment of the downtown population, and as such would likely be regular users of the park whether or not there’s a dedicated section.

again, thanks for the comment. we welcome input from supports and detractors alike

Lost the mini-park in Belltown? No offense, but that place was freaking scary before it was converted. I say more good dog parks the better.
